Action for Renewables exists to fight for the expansion of renewable energy both across Wales and the UK. Our vision is of a future Britain powered in large part from clean, green and secure renewable energy sources, doing its part to combat dangerous climate change.

The battle for green sustainable energy in Wales is now turning on local decisions and the planning process for onshore wind and renewables sites is becoming increasingly political.

Role

Opinion polls show support for renewable energy amongst the public is high, and onshore wind stands to contribute £1.4 billion to the mid-Wales economy, as well as clean power for nearly a million homes.

We are looking for energetic, passionate and highly motivated campaigners who are able to coordinate, build and support our local campaigning groups across the mid-Wales area.

Scope of work

• Build a network of local campaigning groups across the region
• Identify campaign leaders in local areas close to existing and proposed renewables sites
• Organise and run training sessions for local groups
• Assist with the planning and delivery of local campaigning action
• Develop positive relationships with local and regional press
• Advocate on behalf of Action for Renewables at a local and regional level
• Identify campaigning opportunities and mobilise local groups accordingly
• Develop positive relationships with local branches of other campaigning groups
• Promote good news stories about local groups and their actions

Successful candidates will be self employed and able to work on a consultancy basis
