That's because even though New Labour and the BWEA have done whatever they can to disenfranchise the planning system, common sense usually prevails and the "get rich quick" schemes pedalled by BWEA members a.k.a. wind farms when subject to scrutiny by sensible people who aren't out to make vast sums from electricity consumers get canned.
Long may it continue.
Actually, Mr SensibleMan (aka *deleted at request of user*, of Against Wind Farm At Low Spinney Action Group), about two thirds of those rejections at planning committee stage are overturned at appeal because the grounds on which they're rejected are frequently frivolous. All groups like yours do is cost taxpayers money and lead to more carbon emissions.
In complete agreement with Adam. Environmental benefits are often not given enough wieght when the planners are balancing all the material considerations in making a decision. Refusals are then justifiably overturned at appeal by many sensible commissioners.
