Support Wind in Mid Wales

New wind farms in Mid Wales will bring economic benefits, as well as cutting carbon emissions. Help us support wind!

A new industry is beginning in Wales. Near Chepstow, a new wind turbine tower factory is on course to employ hundreds of people. In Swansea, a firm that traditionally supplied components for fossil-fuel generators is now making components for wind turbines. At Llanidloes, a Wind Farm Service Centre is expanding to meet the needs of new wind projects.

All this has the potential to bring jobs and investment into Wales - but it's dependent on the role wind plays in our future energy mix. If the wind farms proposed for Mid Wales are built, then up to £1.4 billion of spending and investment will come into the area. The electricity from the wind farms will play a part in stabilising our electricity bills in the face of rising fossil fuel costs. More than that, it will slash our greenhouse gas emissions, and help us do our part towards fighting climate change.

I support wind power in Mid Wales

I am writing to you because I support the expansion of wind power in Mid Wales. We stand on the brink of creating an entirely new industry based on clean, green renewable energy; an industry that could bring jobs and investment at a crucial time for our economy.

Quite apart from cutting our carbon emissions, Mid Wales could stand to benefit from up to £1.4 billion of spending in investment as a result of the development of wind projects in the area. These wind farms will play a part in mitigating rises in energy bills caused by escalating fossil fuel prices.

I call on you to use your voice to support wind power in our area.
