Wind Week 2010 is in full swing
The European Wind Energy Association this week predicted the available supply of renewable energy generated by wind will increase by 13 per cent during 2010.
This news comes as we reach the midway point of Wind Week 2010, a week dedicated to celebrating wind energy and aimed at vocalising the strong support for this renewable energy in the UK.
So far this Wind Week ten wind farms have opened up across the country to the public alongside a variety of other events, including a visual reminder of the importance of renewable energy in the form of a 43-foot wind turbine installed in London's Leicester Square. Yesterday Chris Huhne, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, visited the turbine, his presence a demonstration of his own positive views on wind energy.
Not only has Wind Week 2010 received public support from the Lib Dems, our own Nick Medic, head of communications at RenewableUK, stated people in the UK are showing increased levels of support for the renewable energy.
"Looking at independent polling and government polling you see that up to 80 per cent of people in this country support deployment of wind energy."
